The natural bone that grows on the head of a caribou is shed yearly in winter. The antlers lay on the tundra and weather in the sun and rain. When polished they produce this look. Alaska Natives have utilized the ulu since at least 1900 B.C. The knife is quite a versatile utensil for kitchen, shop, or outdoor use.
