The Pacific Walrus has tusks like an elephant. The walrus (odobenus rosmaus) is a large flippered marine mammal and weighs up to 3700 pounds. The handle of this ulu is made from fossilized walrus rib bone and end-capped with Fossilized Woolly Mammoth Tooth. The mammoth roamed the Earth for 1.8 million years, until it's extinction about 10,000 years ago. Unearthed in Northern Alaska, Canada, and Siberia, its unique colors are derived from the minerals found in the soil. Alaska Natives have utilized the ulu since at least 1900 B.C. The knife is quite a versatile utensil for kitchen, shop, or outdoor use.
