The Pacific Walrus has tusks like an elephant. The walrus (odobenus rosmaus) is a large flippered marine mammal and weighs up to 3700 pounds. The handle of this ulu is made from fossilized walrus rib bone and end-capped with Moose Antler, which is the natural bone that grows on the head of a moose and is shed yearly in winter. Alaska Natives have utilized the ulu since at least 1900 B.C. The knife is quite a versatile utensil for kitchen, shop, or outdoor use.
